A failed reporter is bonded to an alien entity, one of many symbiotes who have invaded Earth. But the being takes a liking to Earth and decides to protect it.

Marcel was hired as writer.[186] Andy Serkis was hired to direct in August 2019.[187] Fleischer said he was happy to let Serkis take over following the negative critical reaction that Venom received. Fleischer believed reviewers had been unfair to the "crowdpleasing movie", potentially due to biases against Sony and towards Marvel Studios' rival superhero films.[188]
Venom: The Last Dance Main article: Venom: The Last Dance In December 2021, Pascal said they were in the "planning stages" of Venom 3.[189] Sony confirmed the film was in development at CinemaCon in April 2022.[190] In June, Hardy revealed that Marcel was writing the script after previously working on the prior Venom films, and that he was co-writing the story with her.[191] That October, Marcel was set to make her directorial debut with the film and to also produce it.[192] Venom: The Last Dance is scheduled to be released on October 25, 2024.[193]
